We all know the normal drill. New Years comes around and we start making all these resolutions and promises of change. The huge problem with this is that …we rarely stick to them! I gave up New Year resolutions a long time ago. I believe that using this holiday to create all the ways that we are going to “better our life” is automatically setting us up for failure.
Improving your life and happiness, should be something that we strive for all year and at any point. There are always the same resolutions: Lose weight, workout more, travel more, be more present, less screen time, be kinder, etc. Guess what? If you are wanting to do any of these things at New Years, you are wanting them at any other point in the year.
I’ve been very successful in achieving goals that I want to set to improve my life, by setting them whenever I think of them. When you feel that something in your life needs to change, there’s no magical advantage in waiting for the New Year to start. Sit down, set realistic goals for yourself and get started! If you’re anything like me, you will have multiple that come to mind throughout the year. So, don’t put too much pressure on yourself and approach a small goal at first. Complete that goal and then work your way up. I’m a big fan of handle one change at a time and then move forward.
