Week #3 of The Boxy Momma Book Club: “The Death of Mrs. Westaway”

Hello Everyone!

We are getting close to the end of our first book! I’m so grateful to everyone who is participating and hope that all of you will join in on our blog conversations! You will be eligible for a prize at the end of every book, if you participate every week! So, this past weeks goal was chapters 25-40. The story is really starting to unfold, but there are still some strong mysteries. Here are my questions for this week:

  1. What do you think Mrs. Warrens real involvement is in all of this?
  2. Do you think Edward really is Hal’s dad or do you think that it’s one of the Uncles??????

This upcoming weeks chapters 40-50 will finish up the book!

  1. I said before that I think Mrs. Warren is good, like helped Maud and Maggie escape or something. But, obviously her “your mom is a slut” comment made me second guess but idk I still feel like she isnt all bad. Or maybe she killed Mrs. Westaway. Idk I cant figure her out.

The diary entry called Abel “Al”, could Ezra be “Ed”…?? Middle initials maybe??? I think it’s a good possibility that Ezra turns out to be her father. Abel did mention Edward wasnt around during that time. But then who took the picture?? Maybe Ezra set it up on a tripod or something. That would make sense why Maggie kept it a secret, she was ashamed to have slept with her own cousin.?? We shall see soon

  2. 1. Mrs. Warren is nuts. I want to know more about her relationship with Mrs. Westaway. Was she an enabler or was she evil in her own right? She creeps me out.

    2. This would make sense, since he kind of disappears from the story. There are constantly possibilities being left out in the open in this book, too many!!

      • I also don’t know why sometimes my reply is from Pizarros and sometimes my name. It’s linking to an old blog i did a million years ago…but it’s still just me, not multiple people!! LOL

  3. Mrs. Warren is so creepy… Is she good or evil? Maybe both?? She is definitely not innocent or naive to the events that took place in that house!

In terms of Hal’s father, I already know the ending so I don’t want to spoil it, but I will say the Ruth Ware does a good job of twisting things around so that anything is possible!
